Since 2011, Double or Nothing Reeds has played an important role in furthering the education of double-reed players both locally and nationally. The Southern Oboe Intensive, a week-long summer intensive at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, provides first-rate instruction by Jim Sullivan (Principal Oboe, Alabama Symphony), Russ DeLuna (English Horn, San Francisco Symphony), and Philip Ross (Associate Principal Oboe, St. Louis Symphony) and is sponsored by Double or Nothing Reeds and Ross Woodwind Specialists.
This summer, the Southern Oboe Intensive (SOI) is seeking a Program Assistant Intern to join us on-site from July 8-14. This person is essential to ensuring that the intensive is an unforgettable experience for all who attend.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting faculty with the classroom experience
- Supply organization and procurement
- Providing administrative tasks as needed
- Preparing correspondence as required
- Communicating directly with students, parents, and faculty
- Supervision of students
- Upkeep of rosters and camper paperwork (including appropriate handling of sensitive and legal documents)
- Obtain video footage for marketing and educational purposes
Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Ability to be flexible to changing work situations
- Strong critical thinking/problem-solving skills
- Proven time-management skills and the ability to prioritize work
- Advanced organizational skills
- Knowledge of videography and classroom technology a plus
- Current Undergraduate or Graduate student in Music or Music Education (double reeds preferred).
Compensation:
Full tuition, room and board. Travel assistance negotiable.
